Hi, am currently reading a book called 'Good to Great' by Jim Collins, one of the authors of 'Build to Last'. The book is about companies that were transformed from being 'just good' to 'great'. The yard stick employed was their stock market performance within a specified period of time.
Six reasons were given as being responsible for this transition. In this post and the following ones, i would summarise them.
1. Leadership. everything rises and falls on leadership. The best leaders are those who have learnt to blend personal humility with a firm determination to succeed. In good times, a good leader will look through the window and give credit to his staff and board members. In bad times however, a good leader would take a critical look at the man in the mirror and seek to make ammendments.
